ST Session Gastroenterology

To review the updated terminology for fatty liver disease.
Interpret liver blood tests appropriately and understand their limitations.
Recognise what is included in a Non-Invasive Liver Screen (NILS) and how to interpret the results.
Risk stratify patients with MASLD and understand the stages of disease.
Apply the local Steatotic Liver Disease pathway in clinical practice.
Consolidate learning through practical case-based discussion.
About the speaker
Dr Yvonne Tin
GP, GPwER Hepatology, NSS Service GP
I am a GP with Extended Role (GPwER) in Hepatology at GHNHSFT, currently completing the 2 year GPwER in gastroenterology training programme. I started this role in April 2025 and work alongside the hepatology consultants doing general outpatient clinics and bridging the gap between primary and secondary care. Most recently I was involved in the development of the steatotic liver disease pathway. I also work as a salaried GP at Rosebank Health in Gloucester and in the Non-Specific Symptom Cancer Exclusion Clinic at Cheltenham General Hospital.
After graduating from the University of Nottingham in 2011, I completed foundation training in Cheltenham and Gloucester before spending two years in Newcastle, Australia, working in Emergency Medicine and Microbiology. I completed my GP training in southeast London, and I have held several fellowships including the National Medical Director’s Clinical Fellow, where I worked at Aviva to develop educational content for their Quantum University Data Science Programme and explored how value-based healthcare principles can align with NHS priorities. I later led GP education initiatives at One Health Lewisham and built a collaborative partnership with the local Training Hub to shape education that reflected the needs of frontline staff. Since returning to Gloucestershire in 2021, I have completed a Health Inequalities Fellowship with Rosebank Health focusing on reducing health disparities through community-based projects. I’m passionate about delivering patient-centred care and tackling health inequalities through innovative, community-focused approaches.
