1. to discuss how patients with functional bowel problems present to surgical services
2. to review the treatment of diverticular disease and when surgery might be considered
3. to discuss the management of constipation including the overlap of slow-transit constipation with obstructive defaecation

1. to discuss some pelvic floor disorders (including patients with fissures and haemorrhoids who also have pelvic floor disorder)
2. to review the management of pelvic floor disorders prior to surgical intervention
3. to discuss the ideal bowel management community service
About the speaker
Ms Joanne Bennett
Consultant in Colorectal Surgery, GHNHSFT
Jo Bennett has been a colorectal and general surgeon in Gloucestershire since 2018. She has a special interest in medical education and pelvic floor disorders and is a member of The Pelvic Floor Society, but also spends plenty of time treating patients with emergency general surgery problems, general colorectal disease and colorectal cancer.
