o To recognise precipitants of AKI and recommend sick day rules
o To identify which pts are at risk of CKD and adverse outcomes (increased ACR+decreased GFR)
o To discuss the management of pts with CKD in primary care (reduce CV risk, drug treatment, when to monitor bone bloods- Ca, PO4, PTH)
o To recognise when to use CrCl instead of eGFR when prescribing in renal impairment
o To identify when to investigate anaemia in CKD
o To recognise when to refer pts to secondary care
3.15-4.30 pm- renal and urology update Preetham and Kim
o To review the management of renal colic and recurrent renal stones
o To identify some causes of recurrent UTI
o To review the management options for recurrent UTI
o To discuss how to optimise anti microbial prescribing for UTI
o To outline the types of urinary incontinence and management options in primary care

Kim is a General Urologist with a specialist interest in Endourology (lithotripsy, ureteroscopy and percutaneous nephrolithotomy plus stone prevention) and laparoscopic renal procedures

After graduating from Birmingham University and completing his Foundation years, Dr Iain Smith moved to the Severn region for core medical training. He completed his renal and general (internal) medicine training in the South West.
He worked as postgraduate medical education fellow in 2015 to 2016 and as Chief Registrar at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2018 to 2019, before starting as a consultant in the trust in 2019. His interests are in renal and general (internal) medicine, biopsy and vascular access,
transplantation and medical education
